Ingredients

Beef:

  • 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced against the grain

Vegetables:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets

Aromatics:

  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger minced

Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth optional, for extra sauce

Other:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

Marinate the Beef:

  • In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, minced garlic, and ginger. Let it marinate for 15–20 minutes.

Prepare the Wok:

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat until the oil is shimmering.

Sauté Aromatics:

  • Add the garlic and ginger to the hot oil. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Stir-Fry the Beef:

  • Increase the heat and add the marinated beef. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until the beef is browned but not fully cooked through.

Add the Broccoli:

  • Introduce the broccoli florets to the wok. Continue stir-frying for an additional 2–3 minutes until the broccoli is crisp-tender.

Combine with Sauce:

  • If using, pour in the beef broth to form a light sauce. Drizzle the sesame oil over the mixture and toss to combine. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.

Finish and Serve:

  • Once the beef is fully cooked and the broccoli is bright and crisp, remove the wok from heat. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Ensure the beef is sliced thinly to allow for quick and even cooking.
  • Allow the beef to marinate for 15 to 20 minutes to enhance its flavor.
  • Use high heat during stir-frying to maintain the broccoli’s crisp texture.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with extra soy or oyster sauce as needed.
  • Consider using alternative proteins like chicken or tofu if you prefer.
  • If adding extra vegetables, stir-fry them separately to preserve their texture.
  • Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles for optimal taste.
